MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE 2 DISKS DEMO HardDrive NEEDED
Do any of you remember the Fairlight 242 demo?
If you do, I think you will enjoy watching this excellent demo.
Once installed onto your HardDrive, (It needs a GAMES drawer to
install into) and selecting the Show all files option from the menu,
you are able to run the demo. It starts off with a very unimpressive
Commodore Logo, but this soon goes, and makes way for a journey by
Car that has been captured on video for everyone to enjoy!
You pass such amazing places as the BP garage and visit such stunning
places like the Cashpoint Machine in all its beautiful glory! If you
stand to close to the screen however, all you are likely to see are
rows of green lines. Standing about 5 to 10 feet away you can see how
good the demo really is. This is a must for ALL HardDrive owners out
there !
BEYOND BELIEF 1 DISK DEMO
As the title suggests, this demo really is "Beyond Belief"!
It is VERY GOOD,VERY COLOURFUL and not VERY SHORT!
One of the bits that stood out were the 256 colour rotating cubes,
on a 256 colour Background.
The greatest thing was the "INTEL OUTSIDE" fractal! If you stand too
close to the monitor and move your head backwards and forwards, you
will become a tad on the dizzy side!
All in all this is a very good demo with some nice music to go with
it!
COMPLEX ORIGIN 2 DISKS DEMO
When you turn this demo on, the first thing that you will say is...
WOW! LOOK AT THAT AMAZING RAY TRACED SPACESHIP! !!!!!!! ! !!! !!!
Yes, mark my word, you will say it. The demo starts off VERY good,
but the raytracing only lasts about 20 seconds.
It is a spaceship that flies to a planet. OK not much but then the
Robot takes over, you get a first person perspective view from inside
a robot as it searches through a maze of roads and paths. (Searching
for what though is a mystery) It all comes to an end (This section of
the demo anyway) with the robot zooming down an EXCELLENT tunnel that
is made of real bitmaps, and not from dots or boring vectors!
Then its on to some neat rotating cubes and stuff, before going on to
a very good (and quite smooth) Wolfenstein 3D style section.
This is another first person perspective bit that has you walking
through a maze of corridors! Its not a very long demo, but this
shouldn't put you off what is otherwise an excellent piece of coding!
NOT AGAIN 1 DISK DEMO
Colourful, colourful and erm colourful, are three words that describe
the Not Again demo! It is mostly rotating and/or zooming pictures,
but the pictures are quite good, ranging from something that looks
like it should be in Super Mario World, to a .......Duck!
Also included is a nice "Wolfenstein 3D style section, (as in Origin,
although smoother!).
There isn't much that can be said about this one, apart from the fact
that the pictures do zoom and rotate!
Not again isn't ground breaking or spectacular, but it is worth a
look, If only for the little yellow duck!
HD GAMES INSTALLER 1 DISK UTILITY
Have you ever wanted to install those games onto your HardDrive that
are NON-DOS ? Well now you can! This excellent disk will allow you to
install Superfrog,Goal,Walker,Lemmings and more onto your HardDrive!
You are asked a path where you would like to put the games, so
making a specific drawer for each game is advisable. Also, a little
bit of CLI knowledge is helpful. Its quite easy to use, with just a
few questions to answer yes or no to and then your path to save the
game to is all it takes to get your favourite game working from your
HardDrive! NOTE - Having the "Degrader" (found on Issue One) would
be usefull, as some games need 1 meg chip, and 1 meg FAST ram to
load properly.
MAD FIGHTERS (PD VERSION) 1 DISK GAME
Think of the Amiga version of Street Fighter II and add some sound
effects from the Super Nintendo version, and you can probably guess
what this game is all about! This PD version (The Full Game is
Licenceware) allows you to choose 1 of 4 different players and battle
it out against the computer or against a friend! The game itself
seems be a bit on the slow side, but the graphics and sound make
up for this. All in all this is a very enjoyable game, and should be
part of your PD collection!
